(In this situation the Polish pole vaulter silenced the Soviet Russian home crowd after easily surpassing the world record in the 1980 Olympic games in Moscow. Although the odds were stacked against his favor due to the location of the olympics he was more then willing to express how he felt about the acts of the hosts. After his action the USSR requested the removal of his gold medal; however, the National Olympic Committee accepted the explanation offered by his coaches that the act was due to an involuntary muscle spasm.)

Austrailian Sports - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport_in_Australia
Australians are very passionate about there sports. In Australia their countries sports mainly consist of team sports which brings the country as a whole together. There most popular sport is the fierce game of Rugby. Rugby is a team sport which almost looks like the American game of football but involves no downs just continuous play. Since there is great weather in Australia, most sports are played outdoors, such as cricket. Cricket is the American form of baseball in Australia and involves a team and the game can go on for days and days until there is finally a winner. The Australians cricket team is ranked #1 in the world and they are proud of it. Like every other country in the world, there is soccer, but in Australia soccer is like soccer in America, not watched much and not really considered to be their strongest sport. The only one man sport the Australians really exceed in is golf. Due to the nice weather in Australia golfers are able to practice outdoors more than most people and most Australian golfers are quite good.

LANCE+TOM
There are several professional and semi-professional sport leagues in Australia. They include the Basketball A-League, the Australian Football League, the National Basketball League, National Rugby League, the National Wheelchair Basketball League, Super Rugby, the Women's National Basketball League, and the Women's National Wheelchair Basketball League.

NBL- The National Basketball League of Australia consists of 9 teams, including one from New Zealand. The current oldest team in the league are the Adeliade 36ers and the reinging champion with the 2011 and 2012 titles are the New Zealand Breakers.

ABF- The Australian Baseball Federation is the national governing body of Baseball in Australia. Baseball is played in all the mainland states and territories, but it struggles for popularity due to the popularity of many other sports, including the comparable sport of cricket, in which Australia has always been one of the leading nations. School-aged children are generally guided toward a future in cricket, rather than baseball, especially in the private schooling system.

SACA- South Austrilian Cricket Association, formed in 1871 and is the state Cricket body in South Australia. It administers the Grade club cricket competition the South Australian Grade Cricket League, and the West End Southern Redbacks, South Australia's first-class cricket team. SACA's stated aim is to promote and develop the game of cricket in South Australia. The SACA has a membership base of more than 28,000 members and an elected Board who govern the activities of the Association.

Australian Football League System- The Australian football league system is a series of leagues for club football (soccer) in Australia, although in the top tier includes a team from New Zealand. The league system in Australia since 1977 has involved a one divisional league controlled by the national body and many leagues run within each state below. There isn't a defined structure of the Australian league system, mainly due to promotion and relegation between the leagues and divisions. The highest level of football in Australia is simple to find due to it being the only nationwide competition in the country. From the equivalent of tier 2 onwards, it is more difficult to judge as Tasmania and Northern Territory do not run a state wide competition, and Northern New South Wales Football is split into a different league to the NSW Premier League.

South Asian Sports- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Asian_Games
Most of the South Asian countries are in debt or have little money to spend on national teams. Most of their sports involve team sports with a ball such as soccer. Soccer is huge in these countries. Kids play at a young in age in the dirt parks and will play for hours on end. Kids cannot afford to buy baseballs or bats but when balls are donated to these countries they are over joyed. The South Asian men and women also train hard for Olympic events. In their region, they have what they call the South Asian Games, which involves some of the games they would experience at a national Olympic event, preparing them for it.

African Sports-http://wn.com/africasports/

The second most popular sport is cricket. Cricket is huge for the young teens and grownups who love running around and enjoying a close game related to baseball. Other sports that Africa has are rugby, boxing, hockey, surfing, and running. Running is very big for Africans, two famous African runners are Edna Kiplagat and Gebre Gebremarian who participate in the New York City Marathon each year.

Native Americans have been around for years and in some cases are considered the founders of this country. Back in the day, the Native Americans did not have much but they used hunting as their first sport. They pretty much invented fishing and hunting for animals without even knowing it because they had to do it for survive. But, believe it or not, Native Americans enjoy the game of lacrosse and is most played in the tribes of the Atlantic seaboard and the Great Lakes. The goal was marked by 2 poles and the baskets were hand-made and the game was considered to be the finest and grandest of Indian tribe sports. The Native Americans also played Snow-Snake, which was played in the winter on the ice and involved the Indians pushing poles or an object across the ice to see whose would go furthest. Hoop and Pole is another game the Native Americans played and probably still play. The game was very basic, a hoop was rolled across the ground well men who stood far back tried to knock it over with arrows or spears. Mainly men participated in the sporting events while women held the house-hold responsibilities.
